The final days of Old Town San Diego

From today's Bargoer e-mail:

"Yes, its true. It's the end of Old Town as we know it. Here are some details. The longtime operator of Bazaar Del Mundo, Casa De Pico, Casa De Bandini, etc. is being removed and the shops will close or relocate. This all happened on paper a year ago when the State of California gave the contracts to operate in Old Town to a huge out-of-state corporation that operates food places in Yosemite and at Petco Park. Many a longtime Old Town fan is scared because the new company wants to introduce an old Western theme (hello Knotts Berry Farm) and foodwise, we all know how lame those 1st year Petco Park hotdogs were. It's a sad story how the 30 year operator/creator of the Bazaar, Diane Powers, was ousted, and it goes all the way up to the political levels of Gray Davis and Gov. Arnold.

In 7 to 10 days, many of the fave restaurants will be gone or relocating: Casa de Pico, Casa de Bandini, etc. Make time to visit and cherish some old memories. (The silver lining is many may be relocating to the old Spanish-style SD Police Building across from Seaport Village.) Plus, this weekend is the annual Old Town Fest, so it will be an all around, bittersweet but festive weekend."

Stick It!

Get all your anti-Bush bumper stickers in one place. And while you're at it, pick up a couple anti-Wal-Mart ones, too.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

President Bush thanked our troops in Fort Hood yesterday for their service in Iraq. The Senate thanked them by voting against an amendment to provide $2 billion in funding for veterans' healthcare.

And don't forget to celebrate the Day of Truth tomorrow!

Looks like the list of Schiavo donors was removed from the Response Unlimited Web site, but if you ever have the need to market to Cream of the Crop PTL Donors, Rush Limbaugh Power Tie Buyers, or Creation Illustrated Subscribers, the site is definitely worth a look.

Pope this, Pope that...

I know the passing of the Pope is a big deal, but c'mon... isn't there anything else newsworthy going on in the world? I mean, in Russia, doctors cut a man's micro-penis off and grew it on his forearm. I think there's a war going on somewhere, too.

The 3 Branches of Government

The Republican Privacy Attack of 2005.

We have all heard way too much about the private lives of a family struggling with a very personal, private matter. But how much of it was relevent or rational? Ah, but through the political spin clouds shines a voice of reason Katha Pollit.

But wait, we don't need a leftie to tell us how irrational and biased Republican Religious Regime tools are, they have none other then Fox News' Harry Shearer to do the talking for us. Or would you prefer the lies and deception of Republican Religious Regime tool Pat Robertson?
